History will remember contribution of Senate: Hafeez Sheikh.

ISLAMABAD, March 09, 2012 (Frontier Star): Finance Minister Dr Abdul Hafeez Sheikh on Thursday appreciated vibrant role played by the Senate and observed that its contribution will be remembered in the history.In his farewell speech in the Upper House, Sheikh spoke highly of the contribution of the House in legislation and formulating monetary policies. This is appreciable. We made important decision that will have far-reaching effects.He advocated strong Committee System and eulogized the contribution of Senate Standing Committee on Finance and its members including Ishaq Dar, Prof. Khursheed Ahmed, Haji Adeel, Haroon Akhter, Ilyad Bilour, Kulsoom Perveen, Haji Ghulam Ali, Islamuddin Sheikh and above all Chairman of the Committee Ahmed Ali. He also praised role of Chairman Senate Farooq H Naek, Deputy Chairman Jan Muhammad Jamali, Leader of the House Nayyar Hussain Bukhari for running the House amicably and efforts to strengthen democracy and the democratic norms. He spoke highly of the Senate contribution in important legislation like 18th, 19th and 20th amendments as well as role of Senators in different important committees of the Parliament. It is highly appreciable that the members are fully involved in House business even at the last day of their stay. Let me join all those who wish to recognize contribution of the Senate, he added. We did historic legislation to strengthen our constitution and the institutions. History will remember us in golden words, said Hafeez, who has been elected to the Senate for another term of six years. About Chairman Senate, he remarked, people will remember you for your wisdom, even handedness, dignity and impartiality.
