Historic lamp gets new life.

A VICTORIAN lamp is shining for the first time in years.

Following requests from the town's civic society, Denbighshire council has repaired the listed lamp and restored it to its former glory.

For years the lamp has had pride of place in Llangollen's Green Lane. But it was switched off several years ago.

Until 1955, the lamp was gas-powered and was one of the first to be switched to electricity.

Elizabeth Roberts, chairwoman of Llangollen Civic Society, said: ``We are thrilled that such a lovely old lamp is back in working order after being out of use for some years. ''
