Historic Liverpool docklands pub is given a new lease of life.

ONE of Liverpool most famous pubs is reinventing itself as a hub for business events.

Vera Boggan is the owner of the Atlantic pub on Regent Road near to Sandhills railway station - once thronging with dock workers and dating back to the 19th century.

However, the rapid decline of employment at the docks has led to the pub struggling in recent years.

Now Ms Boggan has given it a new lease of life. In 2007 a bed and breakfast hotel was opened in the building and in recent weeks it has join the website which has resulted in an upturn in bookings.

An upstairs suite has also been refurbished offering space for corporate events.

And every two weeks the Atlantic hosts the North Liverpool Breakfast Forum, a networking event for small businesses.

Ms Boggan said: "Joining has been amazing. We are now getting booking as far ahead as 2013."

"We have lost a lot of our traditional custom and it has been tough but now we are looking forward."
