Historian John Moore Discuss Captain Cook's Final Voyage by James K. Barnett.

It has been 240 years since Captain James Cook discovered Hawaii. Join Historian John Moore in discussing Captain Cook's Final Voyage by James K. Barnett published in January 2018. Captain Cook was commissioned by the British Admiralty in July 1776 to map the Americas Pacific coastline. While doing so he discovered the Hawaiian Islands. This book gives eyewitness accounts of the captain's third exploratory voyage, which includes the story of Cook's death. John Moore earned a BA degree in History from Northern Illinois University Magna Cum Laude and in his retirement he offers a series of afternoon lectures at the Library entitled History Revealed with various interesting historical topics. Mr. Moore will discuss this book on Wednesday, June 20 at 7 pm at the Prospect Heights Public Library, 12 N. Elm Street, Prospect Heights.
