"I'm also pleased to convey to you the best regards of (Kuwaiti) admirers of your experiments of perseverance and success in the fields of philanthropic and humanitarian activities as well as knowledge, culture, hi-tech and PC software. "You are greatly admired for your iconic achievements not only in software developing but in philanthropic action as well. In launching the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation as the largest private charity in 2000, you made the poor in the focus of your attention," His Highness Sheikh Nasser pointed out. He thanked Bill Gates for the article he dedicated to Dr. Al-Sumait, noting that Al-Sumait's son Sohaib is among the guests. His Highness Sheikh Nasser added that humanitarian action is not only an individual activity but a state policy as well, citing as an example the launching of Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development in 1961 which played a key role in poverty alleviation in various underdeveloped countries around the globe. Concluding his speech, His Highness Sheikh Nasser wished Bill Gates a happy stay in Kuwait. (end) gb
