Business Editors/High-Tech Writers

SAN CARLOS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 10, 2001

Hipbone, Inc., the leading provider of enterprise-class collaborative browsing software, today announced it has achieved Sun Microsystems, Inc.'s SunTone(sm) Certification for its co-browse technology. The SunTone Certification and Branding Program is a collaborative industry effort to define and audit solution provider infrastructure, operational practices, hardware, software and overall service delivery.

Hipbone's co-browsing technology has met the rigorous SunTone standards for scalability, reliability, security and availability required to enter this select category of certified solution providers. To date, only 64 applications have been certified in the SunTone Certification Program, which includes certified solutions offered by industry leaders such as Qwest Communications, BroadVision and Agilent Technologies.

This latest industry recognition follows the company's announcement of receiving the Frost and Sullivan Market Engineering Entrepreneurial Company Award for the Call Center Marketplace earlier this quarter. Hipbone's live interactive solutions permit companies to deliver richer online sales and service experiences by enabling contact center personnel to co-browse with prospects and customers while communicating using Internet call-back, VoIP or text-chat.

"We are delighted Hipbone has achieved certification for its co-browse application," commented Peter Young, vice president of market development and SunTone Certification for applications at Sun. "SunTone Certification will boost customer confidence and help ensure that Hipbone's technology is built and managed with the best practices and guidelines available today. By using Hipbone solutions, customers can be confident that Hipbone's co-browsing technology has been designed to be both reliable and of high quality."

Hipbone is also a member of the SunTone Architectural Council for Applications, a committee comprised of leading technical experts from around the world. The Architecture Council provides a forum for companies with SunTone certified solutions and Sun to address industry developments and their effect on current SunTone specifications. Council members help to ensure that SunTone specifications are continuously updated and validated by representatives in the service provider community. This collaboration provides a higher level of best practices for companies to execute against, resulting in improved service delivery and support for their customers.

"Customer contact operations require the same rock-solid reliability as all other mission-critical applications supporting eBusiness," said Michael Sayer, president and CEO of Hipbone. "The SunTone Certification further validates the engineering excellence and years of effort that Hipbone invested to deliver an enterprise-class co-browsing solution that is scalable, reliable and secure. It will give our quickly growing list of global customers another reason to trust Hipbone solutions as they strive to increase efficiency and revenue in customer contact centers."
