Hip, hip hooray! for gran.

A RETIRED nurse has hit the jackpot at a Cardiff bingo club.

The 58-year-old, who is recovering from a broken hip, won pounds 51,000 on Saturday at the Castle Club, in Canton.

The grandmother of one, who does not want to be named, only resumed playing her favourite game three weeks ago after spending several months away from the club because of her injury.

She said: 'Although I have been playing bingo for a long time, I have only ever had small wins before.'

As well as scooping the national prize of pounds 50,000, she also won the regional prize. She plans to spend the money on family and friends who cared for her while injured.
