For two Riyadh-based Indian families, their return journey from Dammam after celebrating the Eid Al-Fitr holidays turned into a nightmare when the car they were traveling in overturned, killing two women on the spot, on Thursday morning.
Riyaz and Rashid, family friends from the southern Indian state of Kerala, had planned a family trip to Dammam and Alkhobar for the Eid holidays but had no idea that the experience would turn into a tragedy.
Their car met with a serious road accident on the Riyadh-Dammam highway at Khurais when Vipin, one of the friends lost control of the vehicle causing it to overturn.
The ill-fated accident claimed the lives of Rashid's wife Sherly, aged 30, and Riyazy' wife Najma, aged 31, who died on the spot. They were sitting in the back seat and fell onto the road at a distance from where the vehicle crashed. Their bodies are currently being kept at the nearby Al-Hassa hospital.
Riyaz and Vipin sustained multiple injuries and were undergoing treatment at the hospital, according to family sources.
They further informed that Riyaz's children, Rinsha, 14, and Zia, 4, and Rashid's son Sinan, 3, also sustained injuries and were being treated at Al-Hassa hospital.
