Higgins takes the honours as Cardiff Reservoirs enjoy their presentation.
AFTER awarding the trophies won last year at the annual presentation, Cardiff Reservoirs Fly Fishing Club members set about deciding the 2016 winners at Woolaston Court Fishery with a competition for senior and junior trophies.
A two fish bag was the decider and Keith Higgins took the senior cup with a 5lb 8oz brace of rainbow trout while second place was shared between Jim Winterbottom and Dave Pockett with 4lb 6oz catches.
The day's best catch came in the junior section where 12-year-old Bobby Ford took the cup with two fish weighing 6lb 4oz. Young Bobby was also on form in the club's second competition at the fishery where he was pitting his skills against the senior members.
This time came he came in third with two rainbows weighing 3lb 8oz.
Runner up was his father Robert with 4lb 6oz and the winner was Dave Pockett with 5lb 4oz.
The club's next competition is at Canada Lakes on May 7 and the Thursday evening fly-tying classes continue at St Josephs Club in Whitchurch Road and are open to non members.
