Hexagon AB (STO:HEXAB), a provider of design, measurement and visualisation technologies, announced on Wednesday that it has acquired the remaining 90% of the shares in North West Geomatics Ltd, which will be fully consolidated as of 11 June 2014.
Financial details of this acquisition were not available.
North West Geomatics provides high-quality aerial mapping and related spatial data services to engineering and mapping firms, environmental consulting organisations and government agencies. Its turnover for 2013 amounted to approximately EUR10m.
With this acquisition, North West Geomatics is a now fully owned subsidiary of Hexagon, which previously acquired 10% of North West Geomatics' shares in 2012.
According to Hexagon, North West brings valuable expertise in selling data content as a service (CaaS) through its Valtus database, which enables crowdsourcing of data content. Together with advances in sensor capabilities and the acquisitions of AHAB, Aibotix, Geosoft and Tridicon, North West will be an instrumental part in Hexagon's ambitions within this field.
