Hershey Theatre Apollo Awards announces high school play and playwright nominations.
Byline: Central Penn ParentHershey Theatre has announced play and playwright nominations, in addition to honorable mention recognitions, for the 11<sup>th</sup> annual Hershey Theatre Apollo Awards. Evaluators for this year's awards assessed 16 casts across 16 schools this past fall to determine nominations for the seven play categories.
Modeled after The Tony Awards on Broadway, the Hershey Theatre Apollo Awards recognizes outstanding achievements by local high school students in musical and play productions. A total of 17 awards will be presented during the show on Sunday, May 19, 2019.

Students who met specific criteria in play performances receive Honorable Mention recognition. These students will be highlighted in the Hershey Theatre Apollo Awards playbill.
Public and private schools in Cumberland, Dauphin, Lebanon and Perry counties, in addition to schools in the Elizabethtown area and Donegal School District, are invited to participate in the 11<sup>th</sup> annual awards program. During the awards show, short monologues will be performed by nominated lead actor and actress.
The Hershey Theatre Apollo Awards gives more than 75 scholarships per year; since the program's inception in 2008, more than $200,000 in scholarships have been awarded.
