Hero seen aiding victim is peace protester.

AN ANTI-WAR protester has emerged as one of the heroes of the bombing.

Carlos Arredondo rushed to help victims seconds after the attacks.

As most people ran for their lives he vaulted a fence to get to badly injured spectators and used his clothes and towels to staunch victims' bleeding.

He said: "I jumped the fence and all I saw was a puddle of blood and people with lost limbs."

Carlos helped one victim, Jeff Bauman, who lost both his legs, into a wheelchair and kept talking to him so he wouldn't pass out.

A picture shows Carlos pinching shut an artery on one of Jeff's part-severed legs using his hand as they rushed him to ambulances.

Carlos became a high-profile protester against the war in Iraq after his 20-year-old son Alexander died in action nine years ago.

He was dealt another blow, when his second son Brian, 24, committed suicide in 2011.
