Here's to 20 more!
Julie Kent, three-time Dance Magazine cover girl and American Ballet Theatre principal, celebrated her 20th anniversary with ABT last July. Kent danced Juliet in Kenneth MacMillan's Romeo and Juliet with delicate abandon and a steely power. Marcelo Gomes portrayed Romeo. And when the dancing was over, adoring fans overwhelmed Kent with standing ovations and countless curtain calls. Confetti rained down on a celebrity guest list of current and past colleagues who streamed out of the wings to honor her. Perhaps the most touching moment happened when Kent's husband, Victor Barbee, escorted their 2-year-old son William, clad in suit and red tie, out to give his mom a hug.
