Herbert Worster.

WELLS, Maine - Herbert H. Worster, 73, of Wells and formerly of Charlton, Mass., died Sunday, Feb. 7, surrounded by his loving family in York Hospital, York.

He leaves his wife of 48 years, June E. (Pisegna) Worster; three children, Paul T. Worster and his wife, Lisa, of Auburn, Mass., Tina M. Augeri of Sterling, Mass., and Christopher J. Worster and his fiancee, Alicia Duarte, of Oxford, Mass.; three grandchildren, Michael Worster, Sarah Augeri and Clinton Worster; five brothers, Reginald "Jack" of Fort Fairfield, William of Madrid, N.Y., "Teenie" of Oxford, Mass., Joseph of Brookfield, Mass., and Rodney of Virginia; three sisters, Harriet Desmond, Betty Gahagan, both of Sanford, and Bonnie Cyr of Dayton; and many nieces and nephews. Three sisters, Violet Worster, Nancy Hitchcock and Susie E. Worster, predeceased him.

Mr. Worster was born in Allagash, son of Herbert H. and Sarah (Hafford) Worster. He grew up in Fort Fairfield, and lived many years in Charlton and Northboro, Mass., before retiring to Maine in 2004.

He graduated from Fort Fairfield High School in Maine and served in the U.S. Army for two years.

Mr. Worster was a master carpenter and owned and operated his own contracting company for many years in Central Massachusetts, retiring 10 years ago.

He assisted in the Head Start program and was recognized by Lady Bird Johnson for his work. He was a founder of the CHIP-IN food pantry in Charlton. He volunteered for many years at the St. Joseph's Church Bingo in Charlton.

The funeral service will be Friday, Feb. 12, at 11 a.m. in the Athy Memorial Home. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester.
