Herbalife appoints chief operating officer and establishes executive committee to support continued growth.

LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 26, 1996--Herbalife International Inc. (NASDAQ:HERB) Tuesday announced that, during its most recent corporate strategic planning meeting, it appointed Christopher Pair, executive vice president of international and corporate administration, to chief operating officer.

The company also announced the creation of an executive committee, composed of senior officers.

Pair has been with Herbalife for 11 years in a variety of management positions. His extensive expertise in international business has substantially contributed to the company's successful international expansion efforts.

In conjunction with Mark Hughes, chairman, president and chief executive officer, the new four-member executive committee will be responsible for designing the strategic goals of the company under the supervision of the company's board of directors. The committee will report directly to Hughes and its creation is expected to streamline the formulation and implementation of strategic goals for the company.

The individuals appointed to the committee are Christopher Pair, executive vice president and chief operating officer, Michael Rosen, executive vice president of corporate marketing, Timothy Gerrity, executive vice president and chief financial officer, and Carol Hannah, executive vice president of sales operations and distributor services.

By providing a forum for the coordination of company initiatives, the company believes that the quality and stability of its senior management function will be further enhanced.

"Herbalife and its international network of over 1 million distributors have produced exceptional recent results of which we are quite proud. However, the future holds a tremendous amount of exciting opportunities as the company continues to expand its international presence, introduce exciting new products and further train and develop its growing distributor force," said Hughes.

"Under the guidance of our new executive committee, we are strengthening our internal structure and providing a forum for increased stability to further secure the direction and success of Herbalife well into the 21st century."

Herbalife International markets weight-management products, nutritional, food and dietary supplements and personal care products in 34 countries worldwide. Herbalife products are available only through a network of independent distributors and distributor supervisors who purchase the products directly from the company.
