Henderson big guns please in workout please in workout at Newbury.

NICKY HENDERSON was upbeat after working four of his best horses at Newbury racecourse yesterday morning, writes Seb Vance.

The trainer worked Gold Cup hopes Marlborough and Bacchanal, as well as Geos and Katarino, and confirmed that all due out in the next month.

"I was really pleased with the workout," the Seven Barrows trainer said.

"I just wanted to put them all through a good piece of work. It was a lovely morning and they all worked very nicely."

He added: "They are all in good order and ready to go now."

Henderson, confirming plans for the quartet, said: "Marlborough will go for the Hennessy Cognac Gold Cup and Geos is being lined up for the Peterborough Chase at Huntingdon.

"Bacchanal is set to reappear in a three-mile intermediate chase at Sandown, while I was also pleased with Katarino and his breathing."

Mark Pitman also worked some of his star performers, including Monsignor and Smarty.
