Helping Ireland at our cost; YourSay.

I AM certain there are many local Members of Parliament who are regular readers of the Birmingham Mail so could I please ask them l to respond through this paper to a very simple question.

Can you tell us, the taxpayers, why, during these very austere times when you are unable to find funding for cancer patients, nurses, hospitals, police, schools and our armed forces, as if by magic you can suddenly produce out of the hat billions upon billions of pounds to bail Ireland out of its present financial crisis? The people of this country fail to understand how this is possible and deserve a proper explanation.

Please do not come up with that old chestnut of "we had no option but to delve into our emergency funding chest to help Ireland" because giving drugs to prolong the life of a cancer sufferer is what I call a real emergency.
