Help on disease offered.

A FREE programme to help rehabilitate people with lung disease is being promoted in the region.

South Tyneside NHS Foundation Trust's community pulmonary rehabilitation team will have be on hand to discuss the programme at their information store at Gateshead's Trinity Square on Thursday.

Led by occupational therapists, the team will be promoting the rehabilitation programme for people with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) - which is available at five leisure centres across the borough.

Sue Easthaugh, respiratory occupational therapist, said: "COPD, is one of the most common respiratory diseases in the UK. "It causes breathing dif-f ficulties and can affect people's lives in many ways. However, simple steps can help to reduce its impact."
