Help for elderly.

A pounds 2m project was being launched today to provide services for the elderly.

Northumberland County Council's Fitness, Involvement, Safety and Health Networks (FISHNETS) programme was chosen to pilot the nationwide Partnerships for Older People Projects by Patricia Hewitt, Secretary of State for Health.

Users make up the ruling board and will help develop its website. They have helped pick project manager Denise Elliott.

She said: "FISHNETS will have an impact on the quality of life for older people, increasing the number who can be helped to live at home."
