Helmsley sells foreclosure

Helmsley-Spear, Inc.'s finance division has secured a $950,000 first mortgage to refinance 554 Fifth Avenue in Midtown Manhattan. Earle Altman, senior vice president of the division, made the announcement.

Ira G. Feiler, vice president and Midtown mortgage specialist, was the broker in the transaction. According to Feiler, the seven-story, 13,250-square-foot building, on Fifth Avenue between 45th and 46th streets, houses an array of professional tenants.

"While lenders remain hesitant to provide financing, certain structures do meet their stringent criteria," said Feiler.
