Helios Shows New Server Software.
Helios Software, Garbsen, Germany, presented its next-generation server software for publishing firms this week at the Ifra Expo in Vienna. Its color-management features are designed to produce accurate colors in documents, proofs and print products.
The UB+ software suite includes new color-management features such as support for black point compensation, grayscale profiles, device-link profiles, and ICC 4 profiles. Helios said the features enable preservation of primary colors as well as grays, whites, and blacks for both vector and image data.
For users, this translates to being able to use the software as a general-purpose image-conversion engine for Web, prepress, and asset-management applications; as a way to normalize incoming images in terms of color and format; to repurpose documents; to support on-the-fly RGB to CMYK color-space transforms while printing; and for local and remote proofing with separations and color-matched composite previews.
