Heavy duty night in store; PREVIEW Emmure O2 ACADEMY.

Byline: BETTI HUNTER

IT'S good news for metal fans as US giants Emmure are hitting our shores and bringing a suitably raucous support line-up along for the ride.

The New York five piece will be tearing up the O2 Academy today. They're renowned for their breakdown-heavy twist on the conventional metal sound and have earned their reputation as one of the best live hard rock bands after a successful 10 years on the road.

Main support comes from Utah doom-mongers Chelsea Grin.

The guitar-fuelled sextet specialise in controversial subject matter and their apocalyptic lyrics are heavily influenced by their upbringing in deepest Mormon country.

Party-metal purveyors Attila are known for ripping through sets in a manner not unlike their namesake.

They will be playing crowd favourites from their extensive back catalogue and may even sneak in a couple of tracks from their forthcoming fifth album. Bringing up the rear are Canadian metal-heads Obey The Brave and Sydney-based rockers Buried In Verona.

Both bands have been busy making a name for themselves in their respective countries and are building up a hefty following thanks to the support of their betterknown peers.

Most of the bands have already shared a bill as part of their wellreceived American tour last year. The screeching line-up definitely isn't for the faint of heart, but metal fiends won't want to miss out on this jampacked event.

Emmure will be at the O2 Academy today. Tickets are PS15.25. For more information call 0121 622 8250.
