Heartless theft from charity.

A charity shop is warning people not to leave donations outside the shop after Scrooges stole goods from the doorway.

The callous thieves used a wheelie bin to cart away a pile of items left outside The Cuckoo's Nest in Peel Street, Marsden, on Tuesday night.

The shop, which sells clothes, toys and household goods, advises donors to call the shop out-of-hours instead.

The Cuckoo's Nest raises money for charities and causes in and outside of Marsden including, The Forget Me Not Trust, Marsden scouts, mountain rescue and Marsden Jazz Festival.

Shop volunteer Jennifer Yates said: "The police can't help us because we don't know what was stolen. It's harsh and very un-Christmas like.

"There's a notice telling people not to leave things outside the shop. We try to make arrangements to pick up things instead."
