Hearing-impaired to get driving licences.

The Sindh Cabinet approved the issuance of driving licences to hearing-impaired persons on Monday. Special Assistant to Sindh CM on Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Syed Qasim Naveed Qamar said that this was a historic moment for hearing-impaired persons because they had been struggling for this for a long time and several meetings had been had in this regard. In a statement issued on Monday, Qamar said that certain amendments would be made in the motor vehicle registration laws for the issuance of driving licences to hearing impaired persons. He added that the Sindh government had already issued special CNICs and disability certificates to special persons and the CM had also announced a five per cent job quota for them.
