A very modern re-telling of the story of Cinderella with a bossy and opinionated Very Little Cinderella and two not-very-unpleasant (or particularly ugly) sisters. Cinderella is left with her fairy godmother babysitting whilst the two sisters go off to a party but she is determined to join them. However, she knows exactly what she wants to wear, which is not a party dress and includes her 'Lello' boots and she does not want a coach either, preferring her big blue scooter. Of course, she leaves her boot behind which causes her to be found by the Very Little Prince and they play happily ever after.
An amusing book that would be appreciated by those familiar with the original Cinderella story, it manages to engage both child and adult with its fun illustrations full of colour and detail, and the interesting text makes use of different sizes and shaped words that fill the page and move the reader through the story.
