Healthland Electronic Health Record Solution Helps Rural Hospitals in Mississippi and Louisiana Achieve Stage 1 Meaningful Use.

Five more Healthland clients approved for funding under Medicare EHR Incentive Program

MINNEAPOLIS -- Healthland, America's market leader of healthcare information technology solutions for rural hospitals, today announced that five rural hospitals across Mississippi and Louisiana have achieved Stage 1 Meaningful Use. After a successful 90-day reporting period of their comprehensive electronic health record (EHR) capabilities, the healthcare providers will now receive funding under the Medicare EHR Incentive Program. The hospitals include:

* South Sunflower County Hospital, Indianola, Miss.

* Wayne General Hospital, Waynesboro, Miss.

* LaSalle General Hospital, Jena, La.

* Reeves Memorial Medical Center, Bernice, La.

* St. Charles Parish Hospital, Luling, La.

"With our Stage 1 Meaningful Use attestation, we are anticipating approximately $2 million in incentive funds," said Samantha Wood, LaSalle General Hospital's Informatics Nurse and Meaningful Use Coordinator. "The Healthland Technical Support Center was prompt, knowledgeable and extremely helpful in allowing us to reach this important goal. Healthland also provided educational webinars and a comprehensive Meaningful Use report that enabled us to quickly and easily analyze key statistics. This was particularly beneficial, especially since most solutions require hospitals to do their own calculations, taking up time and resources."

Since ARRA was passed in 2009, Healthland has worked diligently to provide the tools rural hospitals need to get to them to Meaningful Use. The Healthland EHR reporting capabilities enable users to pull real-time data, without manual audits for all Stage1 Meaningful Use objectives and measures. In addition, Healthland offers educational opportunities to help clients understand Meaningful Use criteria and provides assistance in completing the attestation and incentive payment process.

"The staff at Wayne General, Healthland's sales and support teams, and the Healthland EHR solution made it possible for us to achieve Stage 1 Meaningful Use," said Robert Slay, Wayne General Hospital IT Director. "We found the Healthland Meaningful Use Statistical Report especially helpful in keeping our project on track to meet our deadlines."

Healthland clients across the country are experiencing success in meeting Meaningful Use, including areas such as Mississippi and Louisiana. In addition to the five hospitals that recently attested, Healthland has several other clients in this region who reported their achievement of Stage 1 Meaningful Use earlier in 2011.

"At Healthland, we are focused on helping our clients care for their communities, achieve Meaningful Use and receive EHR incentive funds," said Jim Anderson, Healthland Senior Vice President, Sales and Services. "We are thrilled to have been a part of these successes in Mississippi and Louisiana. Incentive funds are crucial for rural hospitals with limited resources, and absolutely a necessity for them to continue delivering quality healthcare to their communities of family, friends and neighbors. The Healthland EHR is designed specifically for the rural hospital market, enabling them to experience immediate benefits in efficiencies and patient care."
