Mauna Loa Nut Corp. has developed a 2015 "Health Nut" recipe campaign that highlights the health benefits and versatility of using macadamia nuts in the kitchen
According to company officials, this is one of the first initiatives led by parent company Hawaiian Host, a leading brand and producer of chocolate covered macadamia nuts, which acquired Mauna Loa from The Hershey Co. in March.
Hawaiian Host will continue to emphasize its chocolate macadamia products, while Mauna Loa will focus on its many flavor variations of macadamia nuts. Macadamia nuts are rich in many minerals, including calcium, iron, magnesium and zinc, company officials say.
The recipes developed in Mauna Loa's 2015 "Health Nut" campaign will focus on deliciously healthy meals that are easy to make and incorporate a variety of fresh ingredients. Recipes will be featured on the company website and social media platforms with additional marketing vehicles to be utilized once all recipes have been finalized, tentatively scheduled for fall 2015. The first recipe in the series is for Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Chicken Stir-fry.
"Aside from being a delicious snack full of essential nutrients, macadamia nuts add a delectable crunch to just about any dish, from breakfast to a quick family dinner," says Nancy Villasenor, vice president of marketing for Hawaiian Host, based in Honolulu. "We are thrilled to introduce a series of Mauna Loa recipes that provide our customers with new ways to enjoy macadamias as an ingredient that's guaranteed to elevate any meal."
