Health check: Dannii Minogue; INSIDE OUT.
SINGER, Dannii Minogue, 30, has won much acclaim for the award-winning single All I Wanna Do. After a celebrated performance in Macbeth at the Edinburgh Festival, she took the West End by storm, playing Esmerelda in hit musical Notre Dame De Paris. The multi-talented Australian star also appeared in Eve Ensler's smash hit The Vagina Monologues and the BBC's Summer Holiday 2001. Now fans are thrilled with her new single, Who Do You Love Now?How much sleep do you need?
"I've always gone for the full eight hours.
Less than that and I end up grumpy."
How do you feel first thing in the morning?
"I'm a morning person. Although the shows and gigs mean I have to change my daily pattern around. I think there is a lot of benefit to sleeping when it gets dark, and not staying up late."
What exercise do you take?
"I love Tai Bo, love walks in the park and I always have a copy of the Claudia Schiffer workout tape."
Are you careful about what you eat?
"I have Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), so I have to be careful to make sure I eat lots of small meals during the day, and they must all contain protein. I also did the Vega Allergy Test, and found out I am allergic to wheat, cow dairy and yeast, so I try very hard to stay away from these."
Have you ever been overweight?
"I used to get hassled by the press about being overweight, but I thought I was a normal teenager. I lost it all when I turned 21 - it just fell off. It's part of growing up."
Do you take pills?
"I take a huge amount of vitamins and minerals. This helps me deal with the amount of work, and all the jetlag."
What foods can't you bear?
"I haven't eaten red or white meat for 17 years. After all the BSE incidents, I was very happy not to have eaten it."
Do you drink or smoke too much?
"I like to have a glass of champagne, wine or some vodka. I don't have an addictive nature, so it's pretty easy for me to go without. I easily do things in moderation."
Does your job affect your health?
"The hardest thing is, that you can never call in sick. It's not like they can send someone else in your place. I find jetlag the hardest thing for me.
Travelling from London to Australia, I feel like I've been turned upside down."
Do you think you suffer from stress?
"It's something I have to watch out for. I used to get very stressed but I think, now I am older, I am learning to be more easy going."
Do you look after your skin?
"I am a true Australian who likes to protect their skin from the sun. I like natural products, my favourites are Eve Lom Cleanser, Jurlique Rose Shower Gel and, for travelling, Judith White face mists. My other basic is lots of water every day."
Are you happy with your body?
"I'm always happy with my body if I get time to work out. I always wished I was taller but high heels are the only things that will help there."
Do you take more care of yourself as years go by?
"I don't think I take more care of myself, but I do think you change your beauty routine to match your age and the stresses that surround you."
