Health Ministry denies news on amputating healthy leg of citizen.

The Ministry of Health denied Wednesday local

news reports in regards to the amputation of a citizen's leg despite the fact

that it was healthy.

Undersecretary at the Ministry Dr. Ibrahim Abdulhadi told KUNA that citizen

was admitted to the Mubarak Hospital today after being transferred from the

Amiri Hospital in which he was in since May 12.

He stressed that medical tests showed that the lower limbs were suffering

from poor blood circulation which prompted the medical team in charge of the

case to do surgery.

The patient was fully aware of the course of treatment and its subsequence

results, stated Al-Abduhadi, noting that all medical procedures failed to

restore blood circulation to the affected right limb which led to the partial

amputation of the instep of the foot.

Complications continued to affect the limb which forced the medical team to

cut below the right knee, said the official, adding that the patient had left

the hospital despite the possibility of more severe complications that might

occur to him.

The case now will be referred to higher committee for treatment abroad to

determine whether the patient would receive treatment out of Kuwait, he

concluded.
