Aromatherapy oils. These are believed to have a direct effect on our brain. Lavender has a sedating effect and rosemary is more stimulating.

Eating breakfast - and make it a bowl of cereal, not a doughnut. Canadian researchers claim taking in calories after fasting all night boosts the memory. An intake of carbohydrates eaten for breakfast is believed to increase glucose levels, which fire the grey cells. Carbohydrates were also shown to have longer-term benefits to memory.

Eating sage. Research shows the herb sage can boost memory. An 18 Century herbalist first noticed the benefits of sage in slowing memory decline and now the herb is believed to boost the memory and may even help Alzheimer's sufferers.

Sleep. Getting a good night's sleep is also believed to boost the brain. Scientists at the University of California found sleep improved the way changes took place between nerve cells in the brain. Other research shows the brain continues to learn while we sleep.

Standing on your head. Yoga devotees believe this boosts the brain by increasing blood flow to the head. Don't try if you are pregnant, have high blood pressure or glaucoma.th
