Headlines Today correspondent Priyamvatha P. and cameraman Daniel were manhandled while they were on an assignment to cover the protest by Stalin supporters outside DMK chief M Karunanidhi's home in the city. Camera and other equipment were also damaged by the attackers in order to destroy the footage.
The attackers were allegedly the supporters of M. K. Stalin who were protesting over the resignation by their leader.
Jolted by his party's rout at the hands of arch rival AIADMK in the Lok Sabha polls, DMK treasurer and party chief M Karunanidhi's son MK Stalin on Sunday offered to resign from all party posts owning moral responsibility for the debacle. But DMK chief Karunanidhi refused to accept the move and Stalin withdrew his resignation.
