Heading in here What puts renters off; House & Home BY KENNETH SPEIRS Email us

Home furnishing retailer Terry's Fabrics has conducted research into the biggest interior design pet peeves for renters - and they say it turns out they are pickier than you might think.

When looking just at the aesthetics and decoration of a property, an oldfashioned kitchen or bathroom would put off almost half of renters.

The top five interior pet peeves included brightly coloured walls and bright or patterned carpets.

When taking the whole property into consideration, renters said they would be put off by a dirty house the most, with bad smells and evidence of damp coming in second and third.
