Haye not to quit Britain to save taxes on his earnings.

London, Jun 30 (ANI): World heavyweight champion David Haye will never quit Britain to save taxes on his earnings and follow the likes of Formula One ace Lewis Hamilton, who moved to a tax exile haven in Switzerland.

Haye, 30, is on course to top 100 million pounds in earnings according to his ex-promoter Frank Maloney.

The WBA titleholder, who takes on Wladimir Klitschko for his WBO and IBF belts here in Hamburg on Saturday night, is happy to pay taxes in the UK.

Haye has to fork out the top rate of 50p for every pound earned, while Hamilton pays just a fraction of that, the Sun reports.

He said: "I'll never quit the UK. England will always be my home. The bank statement might look good if I live abroad but it's worth paying the tax to be with my family and mum and dad."

Tax exiles can spend only a maximum of 91 days in the UK in each calendar year and the 50p rate, which only came into force a couple of years ago, affects around 300,000 people in the country.

Haye said: "I don't see the point of earning good money if you don't spend it - I'd hate to be the richest man in the graveyard. You want your last cheque to bounce before you die!"

Haye's heavyweight fights have generated around A[pounds sterling]30m so far and TV experts are predicting Saturday's unification bout will head towards one million sales. (ANI)
