Have sayon future.

As a frequent visitor to Trowbridge, Cardiff, to see my daughter and family I would like to say, whilst I deplore the arson attack on the flats and post office in Caernarvon Way (Echo, May 7) this area, pictured, has needed to be pulled down for years.

It's been an eyesore, a dimly-lit place, used by the estate's trouble-makers to plan their crimes.

I hope the post office is made available quickly, making the journey to St Mellons unnecessary.

Our city planners should use this opportunity to demolish the whole site, then build a mixture of shops and houses, each looking out for each other.

Let's make it a friendly, safe, bright shopping area which is much needed on a very dismal estate.

So please folk of Trowbridge - have a say on the future of your local facilities.

Editor's note: Cardiff council is planning to spend pounds 4m on 30 new homes and a parade of shops to replace the existing shopping centre.
