Have a balloony time; FESTIVAL TAKES TO SKIES.

Byline: EAVAN MURRAY

MY fear of heights, the 6am start and even my mother's desperate plea's didn't stop me taking to the sky.

Today is the last day of Northern Ireland's first international Hot Air Balloon festival at Moira Demesne, Co Down. The idea of soaring 1,000ft into the air in what I imagined would be little more than a wicker basket and a gas stove was not overly appealing.

But it was an opportunity I couldn't refuse.

The thrill of drifting through the clouds above the M1 as cars sped past was amazing.

The view is breathtaking and from that height you see the beauty of our wee country with new eyes.

It is an experience I'd recommend to anyone. Huge crowds flocked to the event over the past two days and organisers are expecting another high turnout today, with gates open from 1:30pm to 9pm Tickets are still available at pounds 10 per adult per day.
