Haunting memories.

PSYCHIC experts have been called in to investigate sightings of the suspected ghost of a woman dressed in black at a new shopping centre in Glasgow.

A member of Paranormal Investigations said: "It is not uncommon for a spirit to be attached to a site.

"Possibly the shopping centre or the construction of a new cinema disturbed it.

"This can be common in hauntings."

Oo-er, missus. It got me thinking about all the new development in Huddersfield over recent decades.

Has it disturbed ghosts that were happily slumbering until demolition gangs knocked down familiar surroundings and built TK Maxx? I was told many years ago that The Grand Picture Theatre which became Ivanhoe's nightclub was haunted.

The facade remains on Manchester Road and Ivanhoe's is now remembered as the place where the Sex Pistols played their last gig, but it was a cinema from 1921 to 1957 and the shade of a former projectionist was supposed to reside in the upper areas.

Is he still there, wandering the aisles of Lidl? Quite a few lost souls could be have been disturbed when the Kingsgate Centre was built bringing hordes of new shoppers into old haunts. Huddersfield has plenty of old ghost stories of the past.

Has anyone had any spooky encounters of the present?
