Hatteras Networks Nabs Leading Lights Award as Best Marketing Finalist.

"Time to Meet Your New Cash Cow" Campaign Wins Finalist Spot in Light Reading's Annual Awards Program

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. -- Hatteras Networks, the Mid-Band Ethernet[TM] market, technology and services leader, and previous Leading Lights award winner for Best Leadership at a private company, today announced that Light Reading has recognized the company as a finalist in the Best Marketing: Private Company category for its third annual Leading Lights awards. The highly respected awards program recognizes top companies for their outstanding achievements in the next-generation communications industry.

"The finalists we recognize are those companies that have best communicated a specific technology vision to their audiences, especially in cases where the company has defined and led the market." explained Phil Harvey, Executive Editor at Light Reading. "As such, we're happy to recognize Hatteras Networks for its innovative marketing campaign and business value proposition."

Building upon its successful establishment of Mid-Band Ethernet as a new market category in 2006, Hatteras Networks' marketing strategy for 2007 was designed to drive the market awareness of the compelling value of Mid-Band Ethernet and its revenue creation benefits. To help do this, Hatteras launched a comprehensive marketing campaign in spring 2007, the most notable element of which was the "Time to Meet Your New Cash Cow" theme. The program kicked off with a series of events, webinars and advertising campaigns promoting Mid-Band Ethernet's ability to help carriers "meet their new cash cow." At NXTcomm, Hatteras Networks introduced the Cash Cow theme to demonstrate the breadth of carriers that have replaced legacy services with Mid-Band Ethernet, showing how services are being deployed and how service providers are growing top-line revenue.

"Hatteras Networks recognized an opportunity to amplify the recurring customer experience of growing top-line revenue quickly and easily with the deployment of Mid-Band Ethernet services. Our Cash Cow campaign has proven to be a highly-effective--and eye-catching--means of communicating that message," said Kevin Sheehan, President and CEO of Hatteras Networks. "We are extremely pleased to be recognized by Light Reading as a finalist for this prestigious award."

The Leading Lights Award winners will be announced at an exclusive dinner on Monday, October 15, in New York City, following the first day of Light Reading's Ethernet Expo. For more information on the Leading Lights Awards dinner, visit to www.lightreading.com/leadinglights.

About Hatteras Networks

Hatteras Networks is redefining the way carriers think about Ethernet services. Hatteras Networks' Ethernet service edge solutions are leading Service Providers worldwide to a $21 billion expansion of the Metro Ethernet market, which had previously been limited to the fiber footprint. Historically, T1s and E1s have been the fundamental building block for voice and data business services. Now, Service Providers can cost-effectively offer up to 45 Mbps Mid-Band Ethernet services over existing copper facilities, enabling businesses to migrate from legacy Frame Relay, ATM and T1/E1 connections to transparent Ethernet services for voice and data business connectivity, infrastructure backhaul and mobile wireless backhaul solutions.

Already deployed on five continents, Hatteras Networks solutions are enabling a market expansion for carriers that is as significant for business services as "triple play" is for residential. For more information, visit www.hatterasnetworks.com.
