YOUNG footballers from a Nuneaton school have been showing off their talents after reaching a major district final.

Year seven boys at Hartshill School in Church Road have won the Wagon Wheels five-a-side Nuneaton and District Championships.

They were undefeated in all their matches and will now take part in the Midlands Area finals at the Aston Villa Leisure Centre in Birmingham.

PE teacher Boyd Young said: "This team is extremely talented and have a good chance of doing very well at the Midlands Finals.

"They play well together with skill and commitment and this is a great achievement not only for themselves, but the school as well."

Russell Kennedy, head of PE, added: "Our reputation as one of the leading schools for sport in the area is well deserved.

"This young team deserve their success and we expect even more from them in the future."
