Harsh Israeli policies imposed on Gaza shores -- EMHRN.

| GAZA, May 27 (KUNA) -- Israel is carrying on its harsh policies on the Gaza Strip's sea shores, imposing more restrictions on the Palestinian territory under blockade since 2007, said Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Network (EMHRN) here Sunday.

A report by the network said that Israeli navy had increased restrictions against fishermen in the strip, leading to a more impoverished situation for more than 70,000 Gazans working in the sea.

Those measures against fishermen in Gaza were a clear violation to all deals signed with the Palestinian authority which enabled fishing in an area of 20 nautical miles of the Gaza shores, the EMHRN report indicated, adding that as of 2009, Israel allowed fishermen to work within a three nautical miles, a significant reduction which increased the suffering of Gazans.

Around 150 violations were committed against Palestinian fishermen between 2011-2012, said the EMHRN, revealing that violation range from humiliation to the sabotaging of fishing tools and boats. (end) mzt.gta KUNA 271041 May 12NNNN
