Harry 'hellbent' on trashing his dad's reputation; Charles' pals speak out over memoirs.

Byline: EXCLUSIVE BY russell myers Royal Editor

PRINCE Harry seems intent on dragging his dad's name through the mud, friends of Prince Charles said yesterday.

They spoke out after the Duke stunned royals by announcing he was writing a tell-all memoir that is feared will contain more explosive claims about The Firm.

The book, due out next year, is likely to include his thoughts on his childhood during the breakdown of his parents' marriage.

Princess Diana's death and his relationship with Charles's wife Camilla are also set to feature.

It follows Harry's recent TV interviews in the US which attacked his and Meghan's treatment by the Royal Family.

One source said: "Is it his intention to ruin his father's reputation as he prepares to be King? It seems he's bizarrely hellbent on doing so, which is incredibly sad."

Another said: "Charles can be accused of being somewhat old school in his emotions at times, but he loves both his sons dearly and has done the very best for them throughout their lives.

"He is concerned over Harry's chosen path and does feel the constant attacks on his parenting style and other hurtful comments about the family are unjust."

Senior royals were reportedly only told about the memoir shortly before Harry's publisher, Penguin Random House, announced the deal on Monday.

DAMAGE Royal author Penny Junor said: "The family must be despairing. This is a man they love who seems to be doing his best to embarrass and damage them."

It follows a bombshell TV interview with Oprah Winfrey and a candid chat on board an LA open top bus with James Corden where Harry spoke about leaving the Royal Family.

In another documentary with the US chat show queen, Harry slammed his upbringing at the hands of his father.

The royals will be bracing themselves that Harry, 36, could elaborate on claims that one royal made alleged racist comments about how "dark" his kids with Meghan would be.

The Duke revealed this week that he has been secretly working for a year with ghostwriter JR Moehringer on his "accurate and wholly truthful" memoirs. He said: "I'm writing this not as the prince I was born but as the man I have become."

Palace staff fear it could overshadow the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations next year.

Senior palace aides yesterday insisted Charles was "getting on with the job" as he and wife Camilla met schoolchildren on the Isles of Scilly.
