Harrison suspended in Newcastle race.

Apprentice Rider Kelly Harrison was handed a 10-day ban by the Newcastle stewards for her ride in the closing Renault Vans Fillies' Handicap at Gosforth Park yesterday.

Harrison partnered the Declan Carroll-trained She's Our Lass to finish seventh in the mile event but the stewards decided she had failed to take all reasonable measures to ensure the best possible position.

Harrison will be out of action between May 27 and June 6.

Paul Mulrennan, rider of the winner Stolen Glance, was also in hot water, picking up a four-day ban (May 27-30) after being found guilty of careless riding.

Intersky Falcon cruised home on his fencing debut when taking the Happy 50th Birthday Jim Mills Novices' Chase at Newton Abbot by a comfortable 12 lengths.

High class over hurdles, the nine-year-old was winning for the first time since capturing the Grade One Christmas Hurdle at Kempton in December 2003.

Sent off the 8-11 favourite in the absence of his chief rival Penzance, Jonjo O'Neill's charge was settled up with the pace over the first couple of fences before starting to open up a healthy advantage.

Despite a few chancy leaps, the mount of Tony McCoy did little wrong and was only pushed out by his jockey for an easy success.
