Harris Corp., Government Communications Systems Division, Melbourne, Fla., was awarded on Aug. 20, 2001, a modification to firm-fixed-price and time and materials contract DAAB07-95-C-A518 with an estimated total of $278,800,000. The Lightweight Multi-band Satellite Terminal Program provides tri-band super high frequency terminals and will provide smaller, lighter, modular, more flexible terminals to meet the theater deployable communications requirement to provide initial long haul communications for bare-base deployment and augment communications as deployment matures. Work will be performed in Palm Bay, Fla., and completion is expected by May 31, 2006. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. There was an announcement on the World Wide Web on Feb. 7, 1995, and eight bids were received. The U.S. Army Communications-Electronics Command, Fort Monmouth, N.J., is the contracting activity.
