M2 EQUITYBITES-January 13, 2020--Harley Davidson signs contract with Qianjiang

Auto Business News - 13 January 2020

Harley Davidson Incorporated (NYSE: HOG), a Wisconsin-based motorcycle manufacturer, has signed a contract with China-based Qianjiang to develop a small displacement Harley-Davidson motorcycle, specifically for Asian markets.

The model is to be powered by a 338cc parallel-twin engine and is based on the Benelli 302S platform.

The new 338cc Harley-Davidson motorcycle is being planned at a time when the automaker is looking to expand its customer base with a series of new motorcycle models planned over the next few years. The new bike is expected to be first launched in China, and then used by the automaker to make inroads in newer markets with more volumes, particularly in South East Asia and India.
