BEIRUT: Former Prime Minister Saad Hariri lashed out at Syrian President Bashar Assad Thursday, describing him as "terrorist par excellence."
"Assad talks about fighting terrorism when he is a terrorist par excellence," Hariri said in a tweet. "Five hundred thousand are dead, 1 million wounded and 8 million displaced, so who is the terrorist?" Hariri said in reference to the tragic repercussions of Syria's ongoing civil war.
Hariri's remarks come after a wave of Syrian regime airstrikes and shelling killed more than 60 people in less than 24 hours in the northern Syrian city of Aleppo, according to monitors and activists.
