Hardcore Maoist arrested in Odisha.
The police, during an operation named 'Hot', launched by Ganjam District Volunteer Force (DVF), Special Operations Group (SOG) and the 127th battalion of the paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) destroyed the Maoist camp.
Kandra Dalabehera also known as Paster was apprehended from Ganjam district.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Ashish Singh said that legal action would be taken against the arrested Maoist.
"During the operation, a person belonging to the rank of Area Committee Member, Paster has been arrested. He then led the team towards his camp from where we have seized seven guns including one SLR, one point 303 rifle, more than 100 rounds," said Singh.
"We have also found some other material including their uniform, condoms. He has been arrested and a legal action will be taken against him," he added.
Maoists have significantly increased their presence in tribal and rural regions in the states of Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal and Odisha.
The government has termed the Maoists to be India's main internal security threat and an obstacle to growth in Asia's third-largest economy.
The Maoists, however, claim that they are fighting for the rights of millions of landless labourers and marginal farmers. ( ANI )
