Happy time as children meet cast of Dick Whittington.

DICK Whittington and his cat dropped in at a Redcar special school to ensure a happy day was had by all.

Nearly 140 children at Kirkleatham Hall School enjoyed M&M Productions' interpretation of the popular story after national charity Happy Days funded the visit.

Happy Days helps children with a variety of needs by organising special day trips, holidays and events for youngsters to enjoy.

And it was mission accomplished when the theatre group turned up to perform - and the children even got to join in.

Happy Days fundraising manager Rob Cox said: "Since we started in 1992, we've helped almost 170,000 children with disabilities, life-limiting conditions, children that have been abused and young carers with the gift of happiness and hope.

"As well as school trips and theatre visits, we provide holidays for families caring for children with special needs. But we rely on the generosity of the public and the work of our fantastic volunteers to make this possible."
