Hangin' with the buzzards in Montana.

* June 10. From April to June, hundreds of turkey vultures--with red heads and wingspans of up to 6 feet--return to nest here and ride the thermals above the treeless wind-sculpted badlands of eastern Montana. Celebrate the return of this imposing raptor, Cathartes aura, at Buzzard Day in Makoshika State Park, an 11,532-acre park near Glendive. There's a guided bird-watching walk, "buzzard burger" lunch, Frisbee golf tournament, 5K or 10K foot race (entry fee $12), and golf tournament ($5). (406) 365-6256.
