The pan-Nordic financial group Handelsbanken has reportedly said that Finland's economy was experiencing a traditional positive economic cycle.

Handelsbanken reportedly said in a statement that the forest industry and the production of base metals had been the first to rebound.

Low interest rates, slow inflation and higher wages were said to be boosting households' eagerness to invest and consume.

Handelsbanken kept its forecast for 2004 Finnish gross domestic product (GDP) growth unchanged at 3%, reported the Finnish news agency STT.
