Hanah's sofa design is a DFS national prize-winner; Picture special.

CHRISTMAS came early for 11-year-old Hanah Sundas after she won a nationwide competition to design the perfect settee for Santa.

Sofa retailer DFS was inundated with creative ideas from children across the country when it launched the contest.

But Hanah's design was voted the winner and has now been turned into a real-life sofa and is on display at the firm's store at Phoenix Mills Retail Park, Leeds Road.

After Christmas, the sofa will be delivered to Hanah's school, Moorlands Primary School at Mount.

Said Hanah: "I love it. It's really like my drawing and everyone at school will be happy because it looks so good."

Ideas from entrants included a sofa with built-in skis, a comfy spot for Rudolph and a 3D TV to enjoy the Christmas films.

But DFS designer Helen Leigh-Jones, who judged the entries, was bowled over by Hanah's design, which included a cheery festive message, a snowflake motif and hooks to tether Santa's reindeer.
