Hamilton Sundstrand, Pratt & Whitney Canada Consolidate APU Businesses.

SINGAPORE -- Hamilton Sundstrand and Pratt & Whitney Canada today announced the consolidation of their Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) businesses to provide customers with superior products and services. Both companies are subsidiaries of United Technologies Corporation .

Under this consolidation Hamilton Sundstrand Power Systems, based in San Diego, California, will manage the customer support, marketing and aftermarket services on the PW901A APU for Boeing 747-400 operators. Primary engineering and manufacturing of the PW901A, and its new sister the PW980A, will continue to be performed by Pratt & Whitney Canada in Longueuil.

Hamilton Sundstrand Power Systems, also known as APIC, has been in the large commercial transport APU business since the delivery of the first APS2000 APU in 1989. However, HSPS has a much longer history in the gas turbine design business, delivering APUs to the U.S. military since 1959.

Hamilton Sundstrand, The Aerospace Power Company(TM), is headquartered in Windsor Locks, Connecticut. Among the largest global suppliers of technologically advanced aerospace and industrial products, the company designs and manufactures aerospace systems for commercial, regional, corporate and military aircraft, and is a major supplier for international space programs.

Pratt & Whitney Canada, based in Longueuil, Quebec, is a world leader in aviation engines powering business and regional aircraft and helicopters. The company also offers advanced engines for industrial applications. P&WC's operations and service network span the globe.

United Technologies Corporation, based in Hartford, Connecticut, provides a broad range of high-technology products and support services to the building services and aerospace industries.
